Centrum

Those groups of people who may be at particular risk of a lack of iron include teenage girls as they start to have periods; women of child-bearing years as they need a good source to pass on to their growing baby; vegetarians and vegans as they do not eat red meat, and the iron in green vegetables is a lot more difficult for the body to absorb; athletes as they are using more due to being so active.

Can I take Centrum while I’m pregnant?

Centrum products are not suitable for pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Vitamin A

During pregnancy women are routinely asked to avoid vitamin A rich foods such as liver and liver paté and may also be advised against taking supplements containing vitamin A. This is because high levels of vitamin A could cause some risk to your baby.

The level of vitamin A in Centrum is 800µg, an amount that is perfectly safe. However you must also consider your dietary intake of vitamin A, which will vary from person to person. We suggest you discuss this point with your GP, Midwife or Health Visitor (or Public Health Nurse in the Republic of Ireland).
